CICS-NC: Monitoring Tropical Waves with SSMIS

Geophysical Variables: These data are derived from the SSMIS data following Ferraro et al. (1996, BAMS). The available variables are surface wind speed, rainfall, total precipitable water (TPW), and liquid water path (LWP). To give maximum data coverage, the data are averaged from the ascending and descending passes of F-16, F-17, and F-18. Data are missing over land.

Sensor Brightness Temperatures: Raw brightness temperatures in each channel for each satellite. Ascending and descending passes have been averaged together. These data are useful for identifying potential problems with the data.
